Hello Zainab,
I am not familiar with model related data. For the question item number 4,
after having  indices  corresponding to the selected threshold anomaly
values. The selected indices is then subjected to the response variable in
which their values are averaged separately for wet and dry period. So for u
and v wind components you perform the operation for each component. Then
you can plot zonal (u) or meridional (u) wind anomalies along with
overlying wind direction.

I hope my explanation can be helpful.

To support the above explanation further i will send a script as well if
you need.
