*Post-doctoral position in synthesis of long-term stream water quality
data: Lake Superior Sentinel Streams Project*

We seek a post-doctoral scholar to collate and analyze a suite of long-term
stream and lake monitoring data collected primarily on Isle Royale National
Park (Michigan) and Grand Portage Lake Superior Chippewa lands (Minnesota).
The ideal candidate has interest and proven ability to manage, QA/QC and
analyze large stream chemical and hydrologic datasets, and a passion for
long-term datasets and how they inform an understanding of our changing
climate. The motivation for the collection of these datasets is twofold: i)
The locations offer benchmark data for baseline studies of changes in
climate and atmospheric deposition, and ii) Monitoring of climate change
variables with little confounding by humans. The position involves working
with multiple agency stakeholders, including Isle Royale National Park,
Michigan Tech University and The Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior
Chippewa.

The position is currently for one year, with possibility for extension. The
hiring institution is Michigan Technological University (see below), though
remote options may be possible. Salary is competitive and includes
benefits through MTU. Start date is flexible, but ideally would begin in
2022. Consideration of applications will begin immediately and will
continue until the position is filled. Please send (1) a cover letter that
states your research interests relevant to this position, (2) your
curriculum vitae, and (3) provide the names and contact information for
three references by email to Evan Kane (eskane at mtu.edu) and Amy Marcarelli (
ammarcar at mtu.edu).

*Michigan Tech* is located in the snowbelt (>200” annual snowfall) of
Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula on the South Shore of Lake Superior. The
region is dominated by vast areas of lakes, forests and wetlands. Michigan
Tech is in the small university town of Houghton, which was rated as one of
the top 10 U.S. adrenaline outposts by National Geographic Adventure
Magazine, boasting excellent skiing, hiking, kayaking and mountain biking.
