Job Summary

Earth Lab<https://earthlab.colorado.edu/>, funded by the University of Colorado Boulder’s “Grand Challenge: Our Space, Our Future” and part of CIRES, seeks a Program Manager to join a dynamic team pushing the frontiers of Environmental Data Science. This will be a full-time position. The qualified candidate will be responsible for carrying out management and administrative duties related to the operations of Earth Lab and assisting the Earth Lab Director in implementing the strategic directions for the program. Earth Lab partners closely with ESIIL<https://esiil.org/>, and this position will work closely with ESIIL staff as well. The duties for this position are varied and require an interest and ability in learning new skills, working within a research team and working across disciplines. Administrative duties include ensuring team communication, reporting and outcome tracking, overseeing strategic initiatives, and assisting with human resource development and budget planning.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Program Management: university engagement, milestone tracking, content development

  *   Help to build and manage Earth Lab’s faculty & researcher affiliate program.
  *   Convene proposal teams and help facilitate collaborations within Earth Lab, with CU researchers, and with ESIIL.
  *   Track grant opportunities from major funders including NSF, NASA, Foundations, and others.
  *   Develop content for proposals, one-pagers, newsletter and other written documents and presentations as needed.
  *   Help Director engage with the external advisory board including planning quarterly (or monthly) EAB meetings.
  *   Track publications, press coverage, and grants submitted and lead on program reporting.
  *   Assist the Earth Lab Education and Analytics teams with various efforts as needed (e.g., EDS seminar, trainings, certificate program).

Administrative

  *   Interface with CIRES on hiring, finance, IT, and event planning.
  *   Manage purchasing for Earth Lab.
  *   Manage room reservations for standing meetings, working groups, and other events.
  *   Maintain contact information sheet for Earth Lab and affiliates and update listservs at least quarterly.
  *   Create reference libraries and manage supplemental documents for grant proposal submissions.

Communication and Outreach

  *   Create the quarterly newsletter for Earth Lab including design and content.
  *   Write blog posts on key topics of interest for Earth Lab programs, working with Earth Lab teams.
  *   Update Earth Lab website (e.g., create new web pages, update content), working with the software developer and CIRES IT as needed for technical help.
  *   Work on developing Earth Lab’s social media presence including promoting the Certificate Program.
  *   Coordinate with CIRES comms team by participating in their bi-weekly meeting to support Earth Lab communications.

  *   This is a 100% appointment and continuation is contingent upon funding.
  *   We provide space in our Earth Lab suite for staff to work to facilitate collaboration across Earth Lab projects and teams.
  *   T​his will be a hybrid position with some in person work and some remote work.
  *   Hybrid work arrangements will follow current CIRES and university guidance and policies.
  *   The in-person work will be conducted in the Earth Lab offices in the SEEC Building on the CU Boulder East Campus.

What We Can Offer

  *   CIRES can offer a generous compensation package.
  *   Annual salary for this position is $59,000.00 - $80,000.00. Salary is commensurate with education and experience and determined based on our CIRES internal career track classification.
  *   Relocation funds are available for this position following CIRES and the University of Colorado’s relocation processes and procedures.

  *   Master’s degree in Geography, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Science Education, Communications or other relevant field.
  *   At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
