Compensation: $54,727-$61,947, plus benefits
Duration: 1 year minimum, with potential renewal
Deadline: Sept. 12, 2022

The Biogeochemistry <https://serc.si.edu/labs/biogeochemistry> and Global Change Ecology<https://serc.si.edu/labs/global-change-ecology> labs at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center<https://serc.si.edu/> (SERC) are searching for two postdoctoral research associates to join highly collaborative, interdisciplinary teams of biogeochemists, plant ecologists, and modelers working on long-term experiments in SERC’s Global Change Research Wetland<https://serc.si.edu/gcrew>. We anticipate successful applicants for either position will have a strong background in biogeochemistry and a willingness to learn new skills.

Position 1 has an empirical focus and is based full-time at SERC in Edgewater, MD, with an anticipated start date of February 2023. The postdoc will be part of the team running SMARTX, a long-term experiment on the effects of warming and elevated CO2 on coastal wetland carbon cycling and marsh stability.

Position 2 has a modeling focus and can be based at either SERC in Edgewater, MD or Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL) in Oak Ridge, TN, or be remote with occasional travel to sites. The anticipated start date for this position is Fall 2022. The postdoc will work with collaborators at ORNL to build, run and interpret model simulations of how coastal wetlands respond to global change.
