I did indeed receive the file, and yes, I'm seeing the same thing too.  Using various binary tools, I can tell that the file is HDF 4.2, and that those symbols you mentioned do indeed appear in the file, but NCL does not report them.  I don't have access to a debugging enviornment until I get home this evening, but I will look into the issue further then.

I'm trying to read some variables in a hdf file. I check my data using HDFview and using getfilevarnames and ncl_filedump in NCL. When using NCL, i can't see and/or acesss 3 variables: file_constants, pr_time and tmi_time.

So, my question is there a problem with the file or is there another way to acess this varibles using NCL?
