Good morning

UT-Austin's Environmental Science Institute and Jackson School of Geosciences seeks a motivated researcher to join a project focused on streamflow reconstruction in the Edwards Aquifer region of Texas using bald cypress tree chronologies, contributing to a broader effort to understand natural variability in regional water resources.

The Fellow will engage in field and laboratory research, including leading field sampling campaigns, analysis of past hydroclimate variability, operation of a high-resolution tree-ring imaging system ("Skippy"), and preparation of peer-reviewed publications. Opportunities also include co-mentoring students and contributing to a collaborative interdisciplinary research environment, including novel applications of dendrochemistry, community-based participatory research, paleoclimatology, and water quality analysis.

We are looking for candidates with a Ph.D. in geosciences or related field, and demonstrated expertise in dendrochronology, paleoclimate and/or hydroclimatic variability. Experience with tree-ring software (e.g., CooRecorder, CDendro, dplR or similar) is required. Experience with streamflow reconstruction, bald cypress chronologies, and/or isotope-based approaches is desirable.

Salary: $65,000-$70,000+ depending on qualifications
