Dear All,

we are advertising multiple positions at the postdoc or research
scientist level at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg.
The positions are within the TerraDT project in which the ice-sheet
model Elmer/Ice will be coupled into our km-scale Earth-system model
ICON. Please feel free to forward this email to potential candidates. If
you have any questions regarding the positions, feel free to contact
Hauke Schmidt (hauke.schmidt at mpimet.mpg.de) or Clemens Schannwell
(clemens.schannwell at mpimet.mpg.de).

Offical job offer below.

Best wishes,

Clemens

The Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M) is a multidisciplinary
center for climate and Earth system research located in Hamburg,
Germany. It is one of the premier climate science research institutes in
the world. Located in the heart of one of Europe’s most livable and
vibrant cities, it provides a highly international and interdisciplinary
environment to conduct scientific research as well as access to
state-of-the-art scientific facilities. You can also have a *virtual
tour to our campus <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kX2taTz_zP8>*.

*THE POSITION*

We are now opening *three positions* for up to 4 years

*Postdoctoral or Research Scientist | Scientific Programmer (W-0030 |
all genders)*

**

The successful applicants will join a team of scientists implementing an
ice-sheet model into the next generation km-scale Earth-system model
ICON with the aim of better understanding atmosphere-ocean-ice sheet
interactions that contribute to present-day sea-level rise and
high-latitude climate change. The research is part of TerraDT, a project
within the European Commission’s Horizon Europe research infrastructure
programme. TerraDT aims at improving the descriptions of Earth system
components in the Destination Earth (DestinE) climate models. The
positions include coupling of an ice-sheet with ICON, and conducting and
analyzing simulations with the model at different stages of the model
development. Tasks within the project will be distributed among the
chosen candidates depending on their qualifications and interests.
