The Asian School of the Environment (ASE, https://www.ntu.edu.sg/ase) at
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore seeks to appoint an
Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Volcanology. We broadly welcome
applications across all areas of volcanology. This can include, but is not
limited to, volcanic hazards, physical volcanology and processes, as well
as stratigraphy.

Successful candidates should demonstrate the potential to build a
world-class research programme and a commitment to education and mentorship
of students, and to meaningfully contribute to our ambitions to have
societal and environmental impact in Singapore and the surrounding region.
They will teach within ASE at both undergraduate and at postgraduate levels.

Applicants must have a PhD degree in Volcanology or closely related fields,
show evidence of impactful, independent research in the field of
volcanology, and have a strong interest in working with other faculty
within the Asian School of the Environment and within the region. We will
consider a candidate’s past outputs, current research programme, likelihood
to obtain future funding support, and potential and enthusiasm to develop
their own research leadership in Volcanology.

ASE is a diverse, interdisciplinary school that integrates geoscience,
ecology, and social science in order to examine environmental challenges in
Asia and globally. ASE collaborates closely with the Earth Observatory of
Singapore, and other schools in NTU’s College of Science. ASE has
state-of-the-art teaching facilities and research laboratories, including
experimental facilities, access to high performance computers, geochemical
and geophysical analytical facilities, and general-purpose laboratories.
ASE also has existing research partnerships that may facilitate
collaborations in the region.

ASE seeks a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equality of
opportunity. We welcome applications from all and recruit on the basis of
merit, regardless of age, race, gender, religion, marital status and family
responsibilities, or disability.
