The NOAA/Physical Sciences Laboratory (PSL) in Boulder, CO seeks an
enthusiastic graduate student or upper-level undergraduate to analyze and
visualize the performance of Weeks 3-4 precipitation accumulation forecasts
for impactful precipitation events across the United States. The successful
candidate will participate in the Pathways Internship Program and will
conduct research that identifies the relationship between forecast
performance and weather scenarios to guide future algorithmic improvements.
The adopted methods were generated with novel post-processing (calibration)
techniques, including the use of artificial and convolutional neural
networks.

The successful candidate must have experience with Python relevant to
reading, analyzing, and visualizing scientific data as well as strong
written and oral communication skills. Experience and interest in machine
learning/neural networks are preferred. Interested students should apply
