Closing soon!

The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (PNSN) at the University of
Washington (UW) in Seattle has an excellent opportunity for a Seismic
Analyst. This is an in-person or hybrid (in-person and telework) position.

The PNSN monitors earthquakes in Washington and Oregon for public safety
and scientific research. We operate 600+ remote seismic stations
throughout the region. Data from these remote sites are continuously
transmitted to the UW. The data are processed through several software
applications to provide a series of earthquake information products.

As a seismic analyst, you will play a key role in producing PNSN’s event
catalog. Together with the lead seismic analyst, you will review,
relocate, and categorize every single seismic event that the automatic
algorithms detect. In addition, as part of a small team of scientists,
software engineers, and computer specialists you will help maintain and
implement other products and ensure that they are successfully sent to
the ANSS Comprehensive Catalog and our public-facing website. The ideal
candidate has excellent computer scripting and python programming skills.

The PNSN’s values emphasize a respectful inclusive environment, the open
sharing of different perspectives, employee flexibility, and a
commitment to serving Washington and Oregon with strong applied
science.  Professional development is expected and encouraged.
