*Professional Research Assistant Position, Knapp Lab, Florida State
University*
The Knapp lab is hiring a full-time Professional Research Assistant to
support research
activities including an NSF-funded project investigating how submarine
groundwater
discharge (SGD) delivers important nutrients including dissolved organic
nitrogen and
iron to the coastal ecosystems of the West Florida Shelf. The annual
position is funded
and renewable for three years.
Responsibilities will include inorganic and organic nutrient
concentration measurements,
as well as measurements of nitrate and dissolved organic nitrogen (DON)
stable isotopic
composition using the denitrifier method. Additional responsibilities
will include lab
management, training of new lab personnel, and maintaining the stable
isotope lab
facilities. Travel and field work opportunities may be available.
Familiarity with nutrient
concentration and/or isotopic analyses, oceanographic field work, and/or
familiarity
running an isotope ratio mass spectrometer are desirable but not required.
Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience. Review of

flexible. A successful
candidate is expected to have an undergraduate degree in a related
field. A Masters or
Ph.D. in a related field is desirable but not a prerequisite for the
