The U.S. Forest Service, Southern Research Station is now actively recruiting for an upcoming permanent Research Ecologist/Landscape Ecologist position that will soon be available within the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) program located in Knoxville TN. The position will focus on conducting research into the use of remote sensing and geospatial techniques to improve understanding of disturbance effects on forest productivity and ecosystem services across the southern U.S. The selected candidate will work closely with internal and external partners to address critical gaps in scientific knowledge that can lead to improved management and sustainability of forests in the region. The individual will also participate and lead various scientific working groups, as well as serve as a member of FIA's rapid hurricane damage assessment team.
