We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist for a Scientist/Engineer level position for our Environmental and Earth Sciences<https://www.exponent.com/services/practices/environmental-sciences/environmental--earth-sciences> Practice in either our Austin, TX or Pasadena, CA location. In this role, you will work as part of a team to provide analytical support for consulting efforts targeted at assessing environmental contaminant fate and transport, forensic analysis, and quality of laboratory analyses.
Your responsibilities will include:

  *   Reviewing environmental laboratory data for completeness and correctness and being compliant against published analytical methods
  *   Validating US EPA data guidelines and Quality Assurance Project Plans based on professional experience for non-routine analyses
  *   Drafting Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAPs) and QAPPs
  *   Executing and managing field sampling events
  *   Managing third party analytical laboratories
You will have the following skills and qualifications:

  *   M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or Environmental Engineering
  *   3+ years of analytical chemistry experience in a commercial laboratory with hands-on experience with gas and liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, inductively coupled plasma - mass spectrometry, and general chemistry techniques.
  *   Additional experience with high resolution gas chromatography/high resolution mass spectrometry analyses preferred
  *   3+ years of environmental consulting experience focused on data quality, data validation, and data management preferred
  *   2+ years of experience in analyzing specific per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and in-depth knowledge of the different analysis methodologies
  *   Field sampling experience preferred
  *   Familiarity with US EPA methods for the sampling, preparation and analysis of environmental samples
  *   Experience drafting Sampling and Analysis Plan (SAPs) and Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs)
  *   Excellent technical writing and communication skills
  *   Proficient in Excel and Access required. Able to use additional data management platforms and coding programs, preferred
  *   Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
