UQ's Faculty of Science is an internationally recognised provider of education and research, home to some of the world’s most innovative scientists, teachers, science programs and commercial ventures and is one of the largest science groupings in Australia. The Faculty comprises six Schools, including the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences (SEES)

SEES is a vibrant, multidisciplinary School with extensive and internationally recognized teaching and research programs covering the fields of Earth Sciences, Geography, Environmental Management and Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety Sciences and Urban and Regional Town Planning.

SEES hosts world-class facilities including sample preparation facilities, complex analytical infrastructure, a geomicrobiology laboratory, a state-of-art planning studio and GIS and Remote Sensing computer laboratories. SEES staff and students are also actively engaged in using UQ’s world-class marine research facilities at Heron Island and Stradbroke Island and maintains close links with the Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis.

SEES is located at the picturesque St Lucia campus, renowned as one of Australia’s most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane’s city centre. Bounded by the Brisbane River on three sides, and with outstanding public transport connections, our 114-hectare site provides a perfect work environment combining a vibrant campus with the tradition of an established university.
