SERVIR - a joint effort of NASA and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) - enables the use of Earth observations and geospatial technologies for improved societal decision-making in five focus regions in Africa, Asia, and South America. The SERVIR Science Coordination Office at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama is collaborating with the University of Alabama in Huntsville to provide SERVIR hubs with direct science support, and science and technical coordination.
We are currently seeking to hire three (3) Research Associates to support science and outreach activities, as described below:
Air Quality Service Development

Key Qualifications
-- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Atmospheric Science, Science Communications, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Geography, or a similar field
-- 3 - 6 months of full-time verifiable work experience
-- Technical/analytical expertise, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing (active and/or passive), and familiarity with remote sensing data from NASA or other space agencies
-- Knowledge of software packages for data processing and visualization and experience with HDF, NetCDF, and other remote sensing data formats
-- Some project management or leadership experience, and strong organizational and communication skills
-- Experience writing technical documents, highlight articles, and social media posts, or with distilling complex environmental science into easily digestible formats, including tutorials, technical reports, posters, visualizations, among others
-- Ability to independently work through situational issues and use problem-solving skills to achieve desired project outcome
