The Department of Geography and Geology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Geology.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, tenure-track position starting August 16, 2022. We seek applicants with a passion for undergraduate teaching and undergraduate research. Typically, the successful candidate will have a 3 course per semester equivalent teaching load (75%), with a 25% research assignment. The candidate will be responsible for teaching introductory and advanced courses in support of majors in Geology and Environmental Science, including a course in Geohydrology. Other potential courses include Geochemistry as well as new courses that they develop. The candidate will be expected to participate as part of a team. Mentoring undergraduate research will also be expected.

Research expectations include publishing and applying for funding to support research activities. We are strongly interested in candidates who seek to work collaboratively with other researchers and teachers, both inside and external of UNO. The position is part of a growing research cluster on studies of the relationship between humans and the environment, using the UNO preserves<https://www.unomaha.edu/college-of-arts-and-sciences/nature-preserves/preserves/index.php> and their surroundings as a unifying focal area. An interest in STEM pedagogic research complements existing university and program strengths and is particularly welcome.

Required Qualifications
PhD in Geology, or closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered, however, must have degree in hand prior to August 1, 2022. The candidate must demonstrate a potential for funded research and publication commensurate with a faculty position.
