[ES_JOBS_NET] Bilingual (English/Spanish) Python and SciComm program

We invite applications from early career geoscientists to our NSF funded Code to Communicate (CoCo) program. CoCo is a bilingual (Spanish/English) program that offers Python and Scicomm training for early career geoscientists. The program has a bilingual approach to reach historically excluded students within Latin and Hispanic communities. Students will learn data management and analysis skills in Python, and the fundamentals of disseminating scientific results to a general audience. This is an opportunity for participants to advance their cyber knowledge and expand career opportunities.

The program is composed of two five-week virtual sessions in the Spring and a week-long GeoHackeo (Hackathon) in the Summer at Tulane University, New Orleans, USA. Students should plan to attend either the Spanish or English classes, plus a Bilingual practice every week during the virtual sessions. Travel expenses will be covered for those participants who choose to participate in the GeoHackeo in-person. You do not need to be based in the United States to participate in this program.

Program Details:

  *   First Virtual Session: January 17th*, January 24th, January 31st, February 7th, February 14th, 2022
  *   *Both sessions will be on January 19th in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.
  *   Second Virtual Session: March 7th, March 14th, March 21st, March 28th, April 4th, 2022
  *   GeoHackeo: Week of June 13th, 2022

The time for each virtual session is: 8 a.m. PST/ 11 a.m. EST/5 p.m. CET/ 8:30 p.m. IST. The sessions will be held on Monday (class in English), Wednesday (class in Spanish) and Saturday (Bilingual practice space).
