The Spill Prevention, Preparedness, and Response<http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/spills/spills.html> (SPPR) program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Safety Officer - Spill Response (Environmental Specialist 4)<https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/washington/jobs/3283506/safety-officer-spill-response-environmental-specialist-4> position. This position is located in our Central Regional Office (CRO) in Union Gap, WA<https://uniongapwa.gov/>.

In this role, you will support the safety and wellbeing of all Ecology employees in the Central Regional Office and respond to oil and hazardous material spills and illegal drug manufacturing facilities. You will be assigned more complex, high-profile projects and you will interact with the public in potentially contentious and high stress situations. You will coordinate and track staff training and ensure compliance with federal and state hazardous materials training requirements as well as compliance with program and agency policy.
