Manager, Nature-based Climate Solutions

Variable or Remote [San Francisco, CA, Austin, TX, New York, NY, Washington,
DC, Boston, MA, Boulder, CO]

EDF's Nature-based Climate Solutions (NbCS) project addresses two of the
biggest barriers to effective carbon credit markets: lack of clear
scientific understanding and consensus on the realizable carbon storage or
removal potential of the vast array of natural carbon sinks, and lack of
market confidence in the integrity of carbon credits available for purchase.
EDF's NbCS team conducts research and convenes stakeholders to find
agreement on the science, and the measurement and accounting standards that
underpin high-integrity credits. The project focuses on natural climate
solutions where we can accelerate carbon storage most quickly because of the
scale of the potential storage and the current interest in those credits.
These include the management, use and protection of tropical and temperate
forests, agricultural soils and oceans.

Overall Function

The Manager will be responsible for implementing key aspects of this
project, including managing committees with outside partners, both academic
and corporate. S/he will develop partnerships and foster collaboration among
NGO's, companies, and academics and provide management support to a growing
project whose overall goal is understanding the realistic magnitude of
carbon storage in agricultural soil and changes in soil carbon over time.
Under the leadership of the Associate Vice President in the Office of Chief
Scientist, the Manager uses experience and knowledge to manage scientific
collaborations and processes involving multiple outside entities.

backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to
address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with
EDF values. This includes fostering equitable systems and empowering diverse
