Environmental Scientist I

Goodbee is seeking detail oriented, well organized, dependable Geologists, Environmental Scientists,
and Planners to join our growing small business. Environmental Scientist I is responsible for
environmental analysis and documentation for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance and
project permitting.

Job Duties

  *   Conduct independent assessment of potential project impacts; conduct wetlands and biological
species / habitat surveys.

  *   Develop permit strategies, avoidance and mitigation measures; specify best management
practices; prepare permit applications and negotiate conditions with applicable state and federal
agencies.

  *   Prepare biological and baseline reports to support informed National Environmental Policy Act
decisions.

  *   Prepare CDOT wetland finding report and Section 404 permits.
  *   Prepare ESA Section 7 biological assessments in support of formal and informal Section 7
consultations for a variety of ESA listed terrestrial, aquatic and wetland species.


  *   Prepare Initial Site Assessment (ISA) or Phase I Environmental Site Assessment to document
potential for risk from hazardous materials.


  *   Preform or manage other specialty studies such as transportation safety, air quality, noise
analysis, cultural resources, Section 4(f), and public involvement.


  *   Manage the scope, risks, issues, deliverables, and schedule of individual project tasks or smaller
projects.


  *   Negotiate effectively with clients by being fully versed in scope, goals and contract issues and
communicating these issues in a beneficial way to client to ensure timely, profitable outcomes to
the project.

  *   Continue professional development through attendance at meetings, professional seminars and
conferences.
Required Skills
* 3 - 10 years of experience with environmental analysis and documentation for civil/transportation
engineering
* Working knowledge of Excel, Word and PDF
* Working knowledge of GIS and/or CADD is preferred
* Current relationship with CDOT and other environmental regulatory agencies is highly desired


  *   Effective negotiation and interpersonal skills
* Strong technical writing skills
* Valid Driver's License

Educational Requirements
Bachelor degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or planning required.
