Dear colleagues,
We would like to draw your attention to the following Co-Organized SA/SM/SH session at the 2020 Fall AGU (virtual) Meeting, 7-11 December 2020.
Session Title: SM002 – Advances in Space Weather Research
Section: Co-Organized Space Physics and Aeronomy Session (SA/SM/SH)
Session Viewer Link: https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm20/prelim.cgi/Session/105633
Conveners:
Shawn Young/AFRL–Space Vehicles
Linda Neergaard Parker/NASA–USRA
Eric Sutton/Univ. Colorado–SWx TREC
Michele Cash/NOAA–SWPC
Session Description: Advances in space weather forecasting and analysis draw from basic environmental research in physical domains from the Sun to the Earth. They also require skillful application of modeling techniques drawn from a variety of other physical, mathematical and computational fields with the end goal of creating practical capabilities that benefit society. The goal of this session is to provide a venue to showcase new and ongoing efforts connecting space weather research with real-world applications and societal needs, while identifying current obstacles of both a technical and a practical nature. We invite talks covering the observations, models, and combinations thereof that will enable tomorrow’s operational applications related to space weather in all its forms (e.g., impacts on spacecraft, power grid vulnerabilities, disruptions to transionospheric communication/navigation/geolocation, effects of atmospheric drag on satellites and debris, etc.).
Please note that the abstract deadline is Wednesday, 29 July 2020.
Visit the 2020 Fall AGU website at https://www.agu.org/fall-meeting for the most up to date information about the virtual meeting. Since this is primarily a virtual attendance conference, the registration fee will be about half the normal rate.
Sincerely,
Eric Sutton
