<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Session Description:</span></b><span style="font-size:11.0pt"> Advances in space weather forecasting and analysis draw from basic environmental research in physical domains from the Sun to the Earth. They
also require skillful application of modeling techniques drawn from a variety of other physical, mathematical and computational fields with the end goal of creating practical capabilities that benefit society. The goal of this session is to provide a venue
to showcase new and ongoing efforts connecting space weather research with real-world applications and societal needs, while identifying current obstacles of both a technical and a practical nature. We invite talks covering the observations, models, and combinations
thereof that will enable tomorrow’s operational applications related to space weather in all its forms (e.g., impacts on spacecraft, power grid vulnerabilities, disruptions to transionospheric communication/navigation/geolocation, effects of atmospheric drag
on satellites and debris, etc.).<o:p></o:p></span></p>
