For those of you planning to attend this year's GRC on Radiation and
Climate, the Gordon Research Seminar preceding the conference is a great
venue for students and post-docs to share their research and get to know
each other!
Consider submitting an abstract.

Cheers,
Alex

Attention students, postdocs, & early career scientists./
*
*
*2013 Gordon Research Seminar on Radiation and Climate:*
*"Toward a process-level understanding of Radiation, Cloud & Climate
Interactions"*
Applications are now being accepted for the second biennial Gordon
Research Seminar (GRS) on Radiation and Climate to be held July 6-7,
2013 at Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire.* The GRS **is a unique
forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other early-career
scientists to present and exchange cutting-edge ideas on outstanding
issues **in the field of radiation and climate*. The GRS precedes the
eight Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on July 7-12, 2013, also at
Colby-Sawyer College, and is thus a great opportunity to engage in
discussions in a non-threatening environment, and break the ice, before
the GRC starts.
The theme of this years GRS is “Toward a Process-Level Understanding of
Radiation, Cloud and Climate Interactions”, and discussions will be held
across a range of topics, that include, but are not limited to:
radiation, convection, and large-scale dynamics; radiation at the
Earth’s surface; and the role of clouds. Abstracts that focus on a
process-level understanding of these disciplines are encouraged, and
especially those that do so through a synthesis of observations and models.
The meeting will feature one keynote lecture by an established scientist
and approximately 10 talks by early career scientists, as well as 2
poster sessions. All attendees are expected to actively participate in
the GRS either by giving an oral presentation or presenting a poster and
therefore, all applications must include an abstract. Those applicants
who wish to be considered for an oral presentation should submit an
abstract by March 6, 2013. All other applications need to submit an
abstract by June 8, 2013. Please apply early, as some meetings become
oversubscribed before this deadline.
For more information about the agenda, and to submit an application,
please visit the Gordon Research Seminar website:
http://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2013&program=grs_radc.
For a list of session topics and confirmed speakers of the associated
Gordon Research Conference, and to register for the GRC, please visit
the website:http://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2013&program=radclimate.
**Please note that those interested in attending the GRS are strongly
encouraged to also attend the subsequent GRC. Hence please submit an
application for the GRC in addition to an application for the GRS**
We are looking forward to an inspiring & successful meeting!
The 2013 GRS organizers,
Louise Nuijens and Mike Pritchard
