The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Central Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Meteorology at the Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2018. We seek candidates with research interests in boundary layer meteorology and teaching interests in dynamic and physical meteorology. The selected candidate will teach courses in meteorology, develop an externally-funded research program that involves students, and actively contribute to service initiatives that advance the department, college, and university.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in atmospheric science or a related field. In addition, candidates must demonstrate (1) potential for outstanding teaching, (2) potential to develop a vigorous research program that involves students and attracts external funding, (3) strong verbal and written communication skills and (4) the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preference will be given to candidates who have postdoctoral experience, a demonstrated record of receiving external funding, and teaching experience.

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, housed in the College of Science and Engineering, offers B.S. degrees in Meteorology, Geology, and Environmental Science, and participates in an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Earth and Ecosystems Science. The meteorology program includes a 24-workstation instructional lab, three multicore servers ingesting and serving meteorological data and running WRF forecasts, a digital map wall, a radiosonde system, a Campbell weather station, and a Micro Rain Radar.
