[ncl-talk] How to add topography in a "transect" cross section

Hello Lyndz,

From a quick glance, it looks like you did not transform your data from the original model coordinate system into pressure coordinates. A hybrid coordinate system is terrain following, so no topographic features will show up in your plots. This coordinate system is not true height in pressure or meters, but a hybrid.
If you are using CAM, you might want to try this function: http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Document/Functions/Built-in/vinth2p.shtml
"Interpolates CAM (Community Atmosphere Model) hybrid coordinates to pressure coordinates.”

Cheers,

Dear NCL experts,

Problem:
I am plotting a cross section along two lat-lon points using the transect example in NCL. My input file has no topography nor hgt variable. I want to mask the topography since the transect crosses an Island.
Any suggestions on how I can do this in NCL?

Here's my input file:

What I have so far:
Attached are the script and output images.

I'll appreciate any help on this matter.

Sincerely,
Lyndz
