[ncl-talk] Efficient versus inefficient method of writing NetCDF files

We've had a few questions about writing NetCDF files, and I wanted to
illustrate the differences between writing NetCDF files using the
"inefficient" method versus the "efficient" method.

Please see this page, which has been updated to include some new scripts
that you can run and compare the timings on.

These scripts create 2GB NetCDF files! If this is too large, you can edit
one or more of the ntim, nlev, nlat, nlon variables to make them smaller.
