I'm not sure if the MacPort version is up-to-date. I recommend not
installing this one.

Instead, go to this page:

https://www.earthsystemgrid.org/dataset/ncl.630.1/file.html

and download this binary for MacOS  El Capitan (MacOS 10.11):

ncl_ncarg-6.3.0.MacOS_10.11_64bit_nodap_gcc610.tar.gz
