thanks Dennis. Since It is an orbital data I was not able to plot it the way i wanted. i still have a query. Kindly give me some clue. The nscan n nray are to be converted into lat/lon arrays. I have to fix one( lat) and plot the other two.

You got a constant field because for the 2D segment you specified all values are 0.0. As ncl-talk always advices ... look at your data.

I am using TRMM orbital data. I have to make the plot of rain_rate with Height on the Y axis and Long on the x axis.
I have to use the lon range from 70-90E. I am using gsn_contour function. I am getting const filed while the spatial plot shows the rainrate between these longitudes.
