[ncl-talk] get the D in DJF seasonal means?

If I understand your question correctly, I believe month_to_season
<http://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Document/Functions/Contributed/month_to_season.shtml>
will
do what you're looking for, provided that you have monthly data.

If you're data is daily, you could use one of my functions, like month_ind
<https://k3.cicsnc.org/carl/carl-ncl-library/blob/master/lib.months.ncl>,
that extracts the indices for any specified groupings of months.
