Instead of using the inverse matrix() function, try using solve_linsys(A, B) instead, for A = your matrix and B = I (the identity matrix). Since A * inv(A) = I, the output will be the inverse.
Mathematically this is no different to inverse_matrix(), but the code is a little different. In particular, if the matrix is singular (i.e. the determinant = 0, and it cannot be inverted) then it will return an error code.

This might help you figure out if the matrix itself is the problem (I suspect, as Dennis has suggested, that may be the issue).

Wow! Thanks for going above and beyond! This helps a lot. I'll try to look for a way to get a modified matrix that doesn't have all those zeros.

I thought it might have something to do with those zero values, but if I replace them with non-zero values I get a similar, but not identical, result:
