Dear Bas,
We encourage people to email wrfhelp at ucar.edu if they have questions about
calculations on WRF output files. I've CC'ed them here.
The WRF folks provide a online NCL tutorial which has a "Clouds" section.
Please take a look at this and see if it helps.
