Hi,

I want to install NCL6.3.0
(ncl_ncarg-6.3.0.Linux_RHEL5.11_x86_64_nodap_gcc412.tar.gz) on a machine.

I tried to test whether it was installed successfully by typing "ng4ex
gsun01n -clean" . Then, I got a message: Resource directory
</usr/share/ncarg/resfiles> does not exist.

I got some information about this problem from ncl-install email list. So,
I guess that It may be caused by the previous version of NCL on the mechine.

There is already a version of NCL (5.1.1) on the machine. So, when I tried
to install NCL6.3.0, paths of NCARG_* were incorrect (only the NCARG_ROOT
was set by myself in the .bashrc). Finally, I got the message when
running ng4ex
gsun01n -clean.

[xuz at gyoji ncl-6.3.0]$ env | grep NCARG
NCARG_FONTCAPS=/usr/lib64/ncarg/fontcaps
NCARG_GRAPHCAPS=/usr/lib64/ncarg/graphcaps
NCARG_ROOT=/home/gyoji2/xuz/local/ncl-6.3.0         (installing directory
of NCL6.3.0)
NCARG_DATABASE=/usr/lib64/ncarg/database
NCARG_LIB=/usr/lib64/ncarg
NCARG_NCARG=/usr/share/ncarg

Because I am not the root user, I can not uninstall the previous version
of NCL (5.1.1).

 How can I figure out this problem?

Thanks!

Zhiqing
