 Dear MET help team,
I have installed MET version 6.1 for the purpose of validating MODIS
Atmospheric Profiles (MOD07_L2/MYD07_L2) data with the data from weather
station.
When I tried to run MODIS_regrid tool to convert  MOD07_L2 file to nc
format, i got the error:
ERROR: ModisFile::open(const char *) -> can't get dimension
Cell_Along_Swath_5km"
If this tool was only supported for MODIS cloud product, is there any way
to convert MOD07/MYD07 to nc format and work normally with MET?

Hi Truong,

Sorry for the delay in getting you a response.  I saw your met-help
question from last week and did write out staff looking for more info
on
it.  Listed below is the email I sent out to other
scientists/developers.

Here's my best guess as to what's going on... MET's modis_regrid tool
is
set up to read MODIS Cloud (06_L2) products,
but the user is trying to read MODIS Atmospheric Profiles (07_L2)
products,
and it's not working.

Enhancing modis_regrid to handle the 06_L2 products will likely
require
some development work here.

A met-help question came in today about MET's support for reading
MODIS
data in the modis_regrid utility.

The user is trying to read "MYD07_L2" data but modis_regrid errors
out:
ERROR: ModisFile::open(const char *) -> can't get dimension
"Cell_Along_Swath_5km"

The modis_regrid unit test reads this input data file on dakota:
/d3/projects/MET/MET_test_data/unit_test/obs_data/modis/MYD06_L2.A2013032.0630.051.2013032185634.hdf

Here's my best guess as to what's going on... MET's modis_regrid tool

Some questions are...
(1) Randy/Jonathan, can you confirm that that's what's going on?
(2) According to that website, there are 9 different MODIS "products".
Tara, should we consider adding support for any of the other 8?
(3) Randy, if we do want to add support for other product types, any
idea
how difficult that'd be?

Once we get this all straight, we'll need to...

- Define new JiRA issue(s) to document the requested enhancement.
