Hi,

I was playing around with MET for precipitation verification. I am using
the 'flxf' GFS files and got the error "*ERROR : gds_to_order() -> Grid
type 4 not currently supported.*" On Theia, these files are located at
/scratch4/NCEPDEV/global/noscrub/stat/gfs. I am using the MET 6.0. I got
this error both from pcp_combine and regrid_data_plane.

Mallory,

Thanks for letting us know what you found. I took a look and see that
this
data is on a Gaussian grid. Here's output from "wgrib -V":

  gaussian: lat 89.910000 to -89.910000
            long 0.000000 to -0.117000 by 0.117000, (3072 x 1536) scan
0
mode 128 bdsgrid 1

MET does not currently support Gaussian grids, but since it's an
output
from GFS, I suspect that we should add support for it.

Do you agree? How high of a priority is this?

Thanks,
John

Hi John,

It would be nice, but not a high priority. I can use the pgbf files
for
playing around with things. With the VSDB package, it uses either
file, so
figured I would let you guys know! Thanks!
