  Initial Request
----------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

I have completed building MET v5.2 (applied the most recent patches).
I receive "Segmentation fault" error while running the MODE tool. Please
see my config.log and make_test.log files.

Thanks,

Endalk,

Thanks for letting us know about the segfault you're getting from the
MODE
test script.

When I run the MET test scripts, the MODE tool runs fine. So I'm not
immediately able to replicate the behavior you're seeing. Can you
tell me,
how did you run the test scripts? Did you run the command "make test"
from
the top-level MET directory? It looks like you did, but I just want
to
make sure.

Next, on what machine are you running? If it happens to be one to
which I
have access, I could log on and debug more easily.

Thanks,
John Halley Gotway

Hi John,

I did run the test scripts from the top level MET directory. I get
similar
error message when I run the MODE tool using my own data. The other
tools
seem to work fine.

I am using a laptop with Fedora 24 environment.

Thanks,

Endalk,

Unfortunately, without being able to replicate the error, I'm going to
have
a difficult time debugging it.

I'm not sure how to advise that you proceed. I suppose you could try
compiling earlier versions of MET to see if the problem also exists in
versions 5.1 and 5.0. If I had a way of accessing your machine
directly,
I'd recompile 5.2 using the debug flag (-g) and then run MODE through
a
debugger to see exactly where the problem is.

I can tell you that this is the only report we've received of this
behavior.

Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
John

Hi John,

Same issue with MET 5.1 and 5.0. It looks like the problem is related
to my
system.

Hi John,
I have compiled MET 5.2 on another laptop, with Fedora 23, and it
works
fine with no issue, including the MODE tool. So, the problem seems to
be
related to Fedora 24.
Thanks,
Endalk
