Initial Request
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hello MET team,
This is a follow-up to a discussion I had with the MET team members at the AMS poster session regarding the MET viewer. I would be interested in obtaining a beta version of the MET viewer along with some instructions if available on how to set up the MySql database, R scripts, etc. for using the MET viewer to generate automatic statistics plots.
This would be immensely helpful for many team members working with me!
Many thanks,
Jonathan

Jonathan,
Thanks for stopping by to see my poster last week. The METViewer
package has not been released the general public at
this point, but I think we would be willing to distribute it to some
"friendly" users who are using MET in a systematic
way and are willing to provide some testing support. I will work on
creating a distributable version of METViewer for
you to test.
In the mean time, there are several components that must be installed
on the machine that will host METViewer.
Foremost, obviously, is MET. Do you have a fairly large amount of MET
output? The minimum reasonable amount of MET
output to load into the database would probably be several dozen
initialization times across several various cases (like
models, masking regions, observation types, etc.). In the DTC, our
verification experiments usually involve the output
of thousands of MET runs, using the components grid_stat, point_stat
and MODE. Situations like this are usually the
best suited for METViewer.
Other components that METViewer relies on are listed here:
http://www.dtcenter.org/met/metviewer/doc/install.html
These components must be installed and accessible from the machine
that will host METViewer.
If you want to test a working version of the web app, we have a
instance running here:
http://www.dtcenter.org/met/metviewer/
There are several different experiment databases accessible there.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Paul
