Initial Request

Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
Caveats: NONE
I'm working on a config file to specify the output_flag and found some
inconsistencies among the different versions of the User's Guide.
V3.0.3 shows 14 flag numbers in the field, but the text describes 15 line
types.
V3.0.2 shows 14 flag numbers in the field, but the text describes 13 line
types.
V3.0.1 shows 14 flag numbers in the field, but the text describes 13 line
types.
V2.0 shows 14 flag numbers in the field, but the text describes 13 line
types.
Should I use the guidance from the latest version (V3.0.3) and, if so,
should the field of flag numbers contain 14 or 15 entries?
Thanks.

John

John,
Thanks for pointing out these discrepancies between the config file
comments and the user's guide. In these cases, I would trust the
comments in the config file over the comments in the user's guide.
It's a difficult task keeping these in step, but the comments in the
config file are much more likely to be accurate!
I've assigned this ticket to Tressa so that she can make sure the
user's guide is accurate in the next release.
To answer your specific question about the "output_flag" entry in the
Grid-Stat config file, please take a look at this file:
METv3.0.1/data/config/GridStatConfig_default
In the comments, you'll see that the "output_flag" array should
contain 16 entries - the first 15 control the output of the STAT line
types and the last one controls the output of the NetCDF matched
pairs file.
Thanks,
John Halley Gotway

John -
Thanks for your quick response. Your guidance in the last sentence is
what I
came up with as my first guess to try. This also agrees with the
guidance in
the config file generator for V3.0 Grid-Stat.
Did you happen to see my question from yesterday about 95% CIs?
