Good afternoon!

I’m pleased to share with you that the call for applications for the 2021
Preparing Future Faculty – Faculty Diversity (PFFFD) Postdoctoral Program
was released yesterday. Our webpage has been updated accordingly (
https://gradschool.missouri.edu/postdoctoral-education/preparing-future-faculty-postdoctoral-program-for-faculty-diversity/),
and the call for applications has been advertised for 30 days with the
Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed Jobs, SACNAS, and the
National Postdoctoral Association (including these organizations’
diversity-focused outlets).

To help you recruit applicants, I’m providing you with (1) the *call for
applications* (see attached pdf) and (2) an *email template for recruitment*
(see attached PPT file, pdf instructions, and sample email). Please
advertise within your associations and with colleagues at other
institutions. Additionally, you can reach out to potential applicants
directly to invite them to apply. Taking these steps to recruit for your
research area will increase the likelihood that you get a good pool of
applicants.

The *recruitment email template* provides you with an opportunity to
customize recruitment for your research area. For example, some units may
have additional language they’d like to include regarding preferred
candidate experience/expertise, competitive salary for their discipline,
highlights of their unit (e.g., The department of _______ is ranked in the
top 10….), etc. Use the PPT template to edit the email recruitment, and
then follow the instructions on how to save the PPT slide as an image and
insert into an email. If you are sending individual emails and would like
to make them more personalized, you can also add a salutation before the
first paragraph in the email template. Or, you could add a greeting above
where you paste the recruitment image into the email. Your greeting or
closing in the body of the email (above or below the recruitment template)
can also include links to your program website, etc. I’ve attached a
fictitious sample email using the template to give you an idea of what your
recruitment email may look like once it’s sent. *Be sure to attach the call
for applications to any recruitment emails that you send.* If you have any
questions about recruitment, or candidate eligibility, then please let me
know.

I will be following up with you in November with information on your
applicants, as well as instructions for faculty review of the application
materials. *Applications are due November 2, 2020*. Thank you all for your
participation!

Lissa
