Hi, I think merging with NCAR's climate data portal is a great idea!! How
much of a possibility is that? The term "climate data portal" is basically
what we are trying to be so ideally it's the name we want. Earth Science
is close but I think climate data (atmosphere/ocean/land surfaces) is
really a subset of that. I think we are providing data and data products
only (data, metadata, references, sources, models, plotting tools) and not
really links to science processes and the like so (IMHO) data should be in
whatever title we use. For me "data" does imply these other things. But,
if we wanted a more descriptive title we could be something like "climate
data and data services" (cdds) which seems rather long and loses the
trendy "portal" name.
If not that, then I would vote for "Global Earth Sceince Data Portal".
