[ES_JOBS_NET] Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity - Centre for Climate Studies, IIT Bombay

[Milind Sharma]

Dear All,

You are invited for an Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship position in my research group at the Centre for Climate Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), Mumbai, India.
Research focus

Our group studies severe convective storms, deep convective cloud processes, and mesoscale meteorology using radar, satellite, and lightning observations, numerical modeling, and process-based approaches.
A central research interest is understanding how environmental conditions influence the evolution of deep convective clouds. The successful candidate will have flexibility to develop research questions aligned with their expertise and the broader interests of the group.

I am particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Passive microwave satellite remote sensing
• Weather radar
• Machine learning
• Numerical modeling of deep convection

Eligibility

Candidates from atmospheric science, meteorology, climate science, oceanography, Earth system science, environmental science, or closely related fields are encouraged to apply.

Candidates should have a PhD, have less than two years of post-PhD experience, or have submitted their PhD thesis and be awaiting examination. Applicants should preferably be below 32 years of age, with age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD candidates as per Government of India norms.

The fellowship is generally awarded for one year and may be extended for up to two additional years, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

How to apply

Interested candidates should email Milind Sharma (milindsharma at iitb.ac.in) with:

    • A current CV
    • A brief cover letter describing research interests and relevant experience
