GW’s Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) looks at how
environmental and occupational exposures impact human health. It explores
the underlying science and policy for issues such as sustainable cities and
food systems, climate change and air pollution mitigation, workplace safety
and risk management.

Additional information on EOH can be found at the following link:

interests are quantifying health impacts of climate change and air
pollution from local to global scales, including developing scientific
methods and evaluating policy scenarios for mitigation. This research is
interdisciplinary and draws from a variety of fields, including atmospheric
science, epidemiology, and economics.

This position will aid Dr. Anenberg in managing the NIH-supported Research
and Engagement for Action on Climate and Health (REACH) Center, engaging

modeling the health implications of present and future climate change and
air pollution. The individual will also receive mentoring and direct
guidance from Dr. Anenberg in order to advance their career. The individual

Manager, and will work within project teams at GW, other academic
institutions, and non-academic stakeholders.

   - Assist REACH Center investigators with drafting grant proposals
related to health and extreme weather.
   - Partner with University of Maryland and other non-academic
stakeholders to develop, test, and deploy environmental justice mapping
tools that identify and visualize disproportionate climate and pollution
   burdens on vulnerable communities.
   - Contribute to team-based projects tracking the health effects of
climate change, including analysis of how shifting climate patterns affect
air quality, heat exposure, and disease burden across populations.
   - Prepare tables, figures, and written drafts for presentations and
   publications.
   - Prepare and conduct presentations to stakeholders on research methods
   and findings
   - Participate actively in GWU and cross-institutional project team
meetings, contributing to collaborative research design and interpretation.
   - Assist with providing guidance to junior staff
   - Incumbent is expected to work well as part of multi-disciplinary teams
and have enthusiasm for conducting research at the nexus of environmental
   science, public health, and policy.
