Postdoc in multiscale ocean modeling at MIT
Postdoctoral Associate position in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The position offers opportunities to work at the intersection of physical oceanography, numerical modeling, high-performance computing, and machine learning. The successful applicant will work with Assistant Professor Abigail Bodner, leveraging results from a state-of-the-art large-eddy simulation based on Oceananigans.jl that resolves scales ranging from tens of kilometers down to meter scales. The project will involve analyzing the simulation output to address fundamental questions about the processes governing ocean mixed-layer dynamics and their parameterizations.
Job Requirements: PhD in geosciences, statistics, physics, engineering, or a related field at the time of the appointment. Strong background in fluid dynamics, turbulence, and/or oceanography preferred. Experience working with numerical simulations, large data, scientific programming, and/or machine learning is an advantage.
