Postdoctoral research associate in applying water isotopic composition to constrain precipitation and hydrological processes

Description
The Atmospheric Sciences Research Center (http://albany.edu/asrc) at the University at Albany (UAlbany) is seeking a full-time postdoctoral associate to perform research on atmosphere-land interaction and extreme precipitation processes using NOAA Unified Forecast System (http://ufs.epic.noaa.gov<http://ufs.epic.noaa.gov/>). The researcher will apply an innovative hydrometeorological diagnostic (stable water isotopes) to investigate hydrological processes and extreme precipitation events (such as Madden–Julian oscillation and atmospheric rivers) through isotope-enabled simulations and model-data comparisons.

Qualifications

● Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences, Physics, Engineering, or a related field
● Experience with scientific software and programming languages
● Experience with numerical modeling, preferably general circulation models or earth system models
● Experience with data analysis and visualization, preferably with large datasets
● Written and verbal communication skills for publishing and presenting research.
● Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Location
The researcher will work on-site at one of the following locations:
Albany NY, UAlbany ETEC (http://albany.edu/about/our-campuses/etec)
Boulder CO, National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR, http://ncar.ucar.edu<http://ncar.ucar.edu/>)

Start
The position is available immediately, but applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.

Application Process
Applicants should send a cover letter and a CV including contact information and reference list to Dr. Cheng-Hsuan Lu (clu4 at albany.edu<mailto:clu4 at albany.edu>) and Dr. Scott Miller (smiller at albany.edu<mailto:smiller at albany.edu>)
