Hello,

The Environmental Remote Sensing Lab at Texas A&M University (TAMU), led by Dr. Xiaojing Tang<https://artsci.tamu.edu/geography/contact/profiles/xiaojing-tang.html>, is seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. student to join the Department of Geography starting in Fall 2027.
Our research focuses on the use of dense time series of Earth observation data for monitoring environmental changes with a wide range of applications, including land use and land cover change, urban albedo and climate modeling, and geospatial intelligence. The selected candidate will leverage state-of-the-art remote sensing models to monitor albedo changes in the urban environment and assess their impact on urban climate using weather and climate modeling and simulations.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong quantitative foundation in environmental sciences, remote sensing science and technology, or related fields. Research experience in the above-mentioned areas is a plus. Proficiency in programming (Python, R, or MATLAB) and Google Earth Engine (GEE) is highly desirable.
Texas A&M University<https://www.tamu.edu/index.html>, a land-, sea-, and space-grant university, is located in a metropolitan area with a dynamic and international community of 273,000 people. The Department of Geography<https://artsci.tamu.edu/geography/index.html> provides exciting opportunities to explore planet Earth through hands-on experiences and research in biogeography, climatology, geographic information science and technology, geomorphology, human geography, and human-environment relationships.
Interested applicants should email Dr. Xiaojing Tang (xjtang at tamu.edu<mailto:xjtang at tamu.edu>) with the following materials: cover letter, CV, transcripts, writing sample, and references (names, emails, and affiliations). Additional information about the Ph.D. program can be found here<https://artsci.tamu.edu/geography/academics/graduate/geography-phd.html>.

Thank you!
