We're hiring a biological methane removal expert.

Methane is responsible for roughly 30% of current warming, and even with
aggressive emissions reductions, methane concentrations are expected to
stay elevated due to hard-to-abate sources like thawing permafrost and
warming wetlands. That's why Spark is working to accelerate the assessment
of the viability of methane removal as part of the climate solutions
portfolio.

Strengthening biological processes that naturally consume methane is one
research pathway we are exploring.

This is a one-year appointment for a researcher ready to bring deep
expertise in methanotrophs and biological methane cycling to applied
field-building and research strategy work: mapping research gaps, building
relationships across the research community, and managing a research
funding solicitation process to support the highest-leverage opportunities.

We’ve posted this opportunity in two formats—a full-time scientist role and
a part-time senior fellow role—to attract a wider range of strong
candidates. However, we will ultimately hire only one person.
