We are inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in the Ice Core and Atmospheric Chemistry Laboratory<https://www.sas.rochester.edu/ees/petrenko/index.html> at the University of Rochester, USA, as part of an NSF-funded atmospheric chemistry project. We would greatly appreciate your help in sharing this opportunity with potential candidates.



The successful candidate will work with Dr. Aparajeo Chattopadhyay and Professor Vasilii Petrenko to investigate the kinetic isotope effects (KIEs) of methane (CH₄) in atmospheric removal through reactions with the hydroxyl (OH) radical and the chlorine (Cl) atom. This laboratory project utilizes gas-phase chemical kinetics techniques, employing a laser photochemical reactor coupled with online and offline spectroscopic instruments, including TILDAS, FTIR, and UV spectrometers. These high-precision KIE measurements will help better constrain the global CH4 budget from atmospheric CH4 isotopic measurements.



A Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, Atmospheric Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Chemical Physics, or a related field is required. We are particularly looking for candidates with expertise in experimental chemical kinetics methods. Prior experience in IR and UV spectroscopy, pulsed laser systems, and gas handling systems is preferred.
