PhD position in wildfire modeling available at the University of Miami

The Atmospheric Chemistry and Global Change laboratory in the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science at the University of Miami (Miami, Florida) is seeking a motivated PhD student (fully funded) in atmospheric science, starting Fall 2026. The position will involve interdisciplinary research across numerical modeling (e.g. CESM, WRF), ambient measurements (e.g. airborne, satellite), and artificial intelligence/machine learning. The primary research objective is to explore physical and chemical processes in wildfire plumes and the implications for air quality, weather, and climate.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in atmospheric/climate science, meteorology, data science, or related physical sciences. Proficiency with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Matlab) is highly desirable.
