Dear All,

*The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lehigh University is
hiring a Laboratory Facilities Technician. *

The Laboratory Facilities Technician will provide essential technical
support for the Earth and Environmental Sciences laboratories at Lehigh
University. This role is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and
repair of various analytical instruments, including mass spectrometers
(noble gas, gas chromatographs, inductively coupled plasma, and stable
isotope ratio mass spectrometers) and a scanning electron microscope.
Additionally, the technician will support the logistical needs for
fieldwork, innovation projects, and the upkeep of laboratory equipment. See

Responsibilities will include:

   1.

   *Mass Spectrometer Maintenance*:
   -

      Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot mass spectrometers (noble gas,
      GC-MS, ICP-MS, stable isotope ratio) and related accessories.
      -

      Provide training and support for faculty and students.

      2.

   *Laboratory Equipment Support*:
   -

      Maintain and troubleshoot other instrumentation, including an SEM, an
      ion chromatography system, and gas chromatographs
      -

      Ensure functionality of related support equipment (e.g., pumps,
      chillers, ovens).
      -

      Keep records of maintenance, repairs, and standard operating
      procedures

      3.

   *Field Equipment Logistics*:
   -

      Manage shipping and receiving of field equipment and prepare
      equipment for field use.

      4.

   *Innovation Projects*:
   -

      Assist with research adaptations, custom hardware creation, and
      instrument integration.

      5.

   *Supervision*:
   -

      Supervise work-study students as needed.

Qualifications:

   -

   *Minimum Education*: Bachelor's Degree in Physical Sciences,
   Engineering, or related field.

   -

   *Preferred Education*: Master’s Degree in Physical Sciences,
   Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.



   -

   *Experience*:
   -

      Required: 1-3 years in a laboratory setting with mass spectrometer
      operation and maintenance.
      -

      Preferred: Experience in chemical analysis, isotope chemistry, and
      laboratory operations.
      -

   *Skills:*
   -

      Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
      -

      Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and customer
      service skills.
      -

      Proficient in basic software and computer systems.

Additional Requirements:

   -

   Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
   Willingness to engage in occasional travel and evening/weekend work as
   required.
