Postdoc on Climate Extremes and Population Health

Uppsala University, Sweden

There is an opening for a postdoc position in my group at Uppsala
University, as part of two national projects focussed on climate extremes
and population health. The *preferred start date is September 2025, but
there is flexibility for earlier or later dates*, and the position is for
24 months. Do not hesitate to contact me (gabriele.messori at geo.uu.se)
should you have any questions.

*Deadline for applications: 5th June*

*Further details and application form here
<https://uu.varbi.com/en/what:job/jobID:820707/>*

Applications over email will not be accepted.

*The position*

The post-doc will work within two national projects focusing on the impact
of extreme weather on population health. Specifically, you will work with
both climate and health data, identify extreme climate events, conduct
statistical analyses and develop health-climate risk maps.
As part of your work, you will be expected to interact and collaborate with
researchers from other institutions participating in the projects. You will
be based at the Dept. of Earth Sciences in Uppsala, but will be expected to
travel both nationally and internationally.

*The research group*

I coordinate a lively research group based at the Dept. of Earth Sciences
in Uppsala, which focuses on the dynamics of extreme climate events in the
mid and high latitudes and their interactions with other components of the
Earth System. We currently host several nationally funded and H2020/Horizon
Europe projects. More information on our ongoing research can be found
at *https://gmessori.eu/
<https://gmessori.eu/>*.

*The department*

Uppsala University is a comprehensive, research-intensive university with a
strong international standing. The Department of Earth Sciences (
https://www.geo.uu.se/ <https://www.geo.uu.se/?languageId=1>) is one of the
most complete such academic departments in Europe. Our research focuses on
subjects that range from the Earth’s core to the atmosphere, on scales from
submicroscopic structures in minerals to the formation of mountains and
oceans. We have teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
