The Department of Earth, Environmental & Geographical Sciences (EEGS
<https://nmu.edu/eegs/>) at Northern Michigan University (NMU
<https://nmu.edu/>) invites applications for a one-year (nine-month) term
position to begin in August 2025 and conclude in May 2026. The successful
candidate will teach a full-time load of 12 credits in Fall 2025 and 12
credits in Winter 2026. The typical faculty teaching load is three 4-credit
courses per semester at student-centered NMU.
We seek an *Atmospheric and Earth Scientist* with demonstrated ability to
teach a combination of Physical Geography (lecture), Weather and Climate
(lecture and lab), Earth’s Climate: Past, Present, and Future (lecture),
Quantitative Methods (lecture), and Earth & Environmental Sciences Capstone
Research (lecture, and possibly other courses). We welcome applicants with
professional experiences suited to teaching these interdisciplinary courses.
*Required minimum qualifications:* Master’s degree in Geography,
Atmospheric Science, Earth Science, Geology, Environmental Science, or a
closely related field; relevant university teaching experience. A Ph.D.
degree and experience teaching some of the specific courses listed are
preferred qualifications for this term position.
